The club has announced the sad news that former Charlton Chairman Michael Gliksten, who spent 20 years at the helm of the Addicks, died in hospital on Friday morning. He was 70.
Gliksten, who was Chairman from 1962-82, returned to The Valley for the first time in 24 years to watch the Addicks in October 2007.
The Bury St Edmunds resident had been receiving chemotherapy treatment for some time.
The son of Stanley, whom he succeeded as Chairman of the club, Edward Michael Gliksten was the nephew of Albert, who had - along with brother Stanley - acquired Charlton in 1932 as the family effectively ensured the future of the club.
